Meet Charlotte MacLeod, who entered the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition in 2020 with this performance of “I Know Things Now” from Into the Woods.
The Tony Award-winning musical by Stephan Sondheim and James Lapine, Into the Woods intertwines classic fairy tale characters like Little Red Riding Hood as they go into the woods to fulfill their wishes. The song “I Know Things Now” is sung by the character Little Red Riding Hood after she is rescued from the wolf's stomach. She is processing the terrifying ordeal and yet is excited that she has matured and has been awakened to the complexities of adulthood.
“I Know Things Now” from Into the Woods is available in The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology, Children's Edition, and the Kids' Broadway Songbook.
Singing “When I Get My Name in Lights” from The Boy from Oz as her second selection was also a great choice for Charlotte's voice.
